Nashville Unscripted · CMA Fest Guide
Four days. 300+ artists. Multiple stages. The most congested parking week of the year. Here’s everything you need before you go.
CMA Fest is the biggest country music festival in the world — and the most logistically challenging week Nashville has all year. Here’s how to navigate it without losing your mind.
CMA Fest takes over Nashville every June, turning the entire downtown core into a four-day country music celebration. Nissan Stadium hosts the nightly stadium concerts. Ascend Amphitheater, Broadway, the Riverfront, and multiple free stages throughout downtown run simultaneously. Over 100,000 fans descend on a city that’s already one of the most visited in the country. Parking, hotels, and restaurants all require advance planning months ahead.
This guide covers CMA Fest 2026 (June 5–8) as a reference point and everything you need to know for CMA Fest 2027 — tickets, parking, hotels, what to wear, what to bring, and how to actually enjoy four days of country music in Nashville without the rookie mistakes.

What CMA Fest Actually Is
CMA Fest started in 1972 as Fan Fair — a chance for country music fans to meet their favorite artists in an intimate setting. It has grown into the largest country music festival in the world, drawing fans from all 50 states and over 30 countries every June.
The festival runs on two tracks simultaneously. The ticketed stadium concerts at Nissan Stadium feature the biggest names in country music performing nightly — these are the headline events your ticket price covers. Running parallel to the stadium shows are free daytime stages at Ascend Amphitheater, the Riverfront, and throughout Broadway where you can see emerging and established artists without a ticket.
This dual structure means CMA Fest has something for everyone — the dedicated fan with a 4-day pass who camps out at the stadium, and the casual visitor who stumbles into a free afternoon set on Broadway and ends up staying for three hours.

CMA Fest Tickets: What to Know
CMA Fest tickets go on sale in the fall for the following June festival. Four-day passes sell out. If you’re planning to attend CMA Fest 2027, tickets will go on sale fall 2026 — set a reminder and buy immediately when they open.
Ticket options typically include:
- 4-Day General Admission Pass — access to all ticketed venues (Nissan Stadium, Ascend Amphitheater, Music City Center autograph sessions) for all four days. The best value for dedicated fans.
- Single-Night Passes — access to Nissan Stadium for one specific night. Good for fans who only want to see specific headliners.
- VIP Packages — premium seating, hospitality areas, and additional access. Significantly more expensive but available for those who want the full premium experience.
Free Attendance Option
You do not need a CMA Fest ticket to attend the free Riverfront Stage, the Broadway honky tonk stages, or to be in downtown Nashville during festival week. Thousands of people experience CMA Fest every year entirely for free. The ticketed stadium shows are the premium experience — but they’re not the only one.
CMA Fest Parking: The Most Competitive Week of the Year
🚨 Plan This First
CMA Fest is the single most congested parking situation Nashville has all year. The stadium, Broadway, Ascend Amphitheater, and the entire downtown core are all active simultaneously. Parking within reasonable walking distance of Nissan Stadium fills by early afternoon on festival days. Book parking in advance — days or weeks ahead, not the morning of.
Best Parking Strategies for CMA Fest
Pre-book through SpotHero. This is the single most effective thing you can do. Lock in your rate before festival week pricing takes over. Walk-up rates during CMA Fest can be 2–3x normal downtown rates.
Use the pedestrian bridge. Park on the East Nashville or Nissan Stadium side of the Cumberland River and walk across the Siegenthaler Pedestrian Bridge. It’s a 10–15 minute walk to Broadway and puts you away from the worst of the downtown parking congestion.
Arrive by noon for afternoon shows. The closer you get to showtime, the fewer options you have and the more you pay. For daytime festival activities, arriving early gives you the best parking at the best prices.
Consider staying downtown. The single best CMA Fest parking strategy is not needing to park at all. A hotel or VRBO within walking distance of the venues eliminates the parking problem entirely — and during CMA Fest week, that convenience is genuinely worth paying for.

Downtown Nashville hotels during CMA Fest week book up 6–12 months in advance. If you’re planning CMA Fest 2027, your hotel search should start in fall 2026 — the same time tickets go on sale.
Best areas to stay for CMA Fest:
- Downtown/Broadway corridor — walk to everything. Premium rates during festival week but no transportation headaches. Marriott, Omni, Westin, and Hilton all have strong downtown Nashville properties.
- East Nashville — 10–15 minutes by rideshare, significantly lower rates, great neighborhood energy. Smart choice for groups that want to save on accommodation and use the savings on experiences.
- VRBO near downtown or East Nashville — for groups of 4+, a VRBO is almost always better value than multiple hotel rooms. A kitchen, living room, and shared space makes a 4-day festival stay significantly more comfortable.

What to Wear to CMA Fest
Nashville in June is hot and humid. Temperatures regularly hit 90°F with high humidity. This shapes everything about what to pack.
- Light, breathable clothing. Linen, moisture-wicking fabrics, loose fits. You’re outside in June in Tennessee — dress accordingly.
- Comfortable boots or shoes. You’re walking — a lot. Nashville in June is also boot season if you want the full country experience. Break them in before the festival.
- Hat and sunscreen. The stadium and outdoor stages have significant sun exposure. A hat is practical, not optional.
- Light rain layer. June in Nashville brings afternoon thunderstorms. A packable rain jacket takes up minimal space and saves the day when storms roll in.
What to Bring to CMA Fest
Clear Bag Policy
Nissan Stadium enforces a clear bag policy. Bags must be clear plastic, no larger than 12″ x 6″ x 12″, or a one-gallon clear plastic freezer bag. A small clutch purse (4.5″ x 6.5″) is also permitted. Don’t show up with a regular bag — you’ll be turned away or forced to return it to your car.
- Water bottle. Nashville June heat is serious. Hydration is non-negotiable across four full days of outdoor activity.
- Portable phone charger. Four days of photos, maps, and digital tickets drain batteries fast.
- Comfortable shoes. You will walk more than you expect. Prioritize comfort over style for the daytime hours.
- Download the CMA Fest app. The official app has the full schedule, stage maps, and real-time updates on set times and location changes.
