The Story Behind DollyFest
DollyFest was Dolly Parton’s own idea. Her longtime manager Danny Nozell of CTK Enterprises confirmed that the festival was “truly dreamed up by Dolly” and was originally planned as a celebration of her 80th birthday in January 2026 in Nashville.
A venue had already been booked and an announcement was ready to go when Dolly’s health challenges required the event to be postponed. It was rescheduled for January 2027 — still planned with Dolly’s participation as performer and host.
Following her death on August 25, 2026, the estate announced that DollyFest would go forward as planned — now as a tribute rather than a birthday party, with the addition of a London event to honor her international following. The family said Dolly did not want a conventional public memorial. DollyFest is what she wanted instead.
